About Veterinarians
A veterinarian, or vet for short, is an animal physician and a practitioner of veterinary medicine. Most veterinarians look after 'domesticated' animals, such as cats and dogs. Mainly veterinarians diagnose animal health problems and test and vaccinate against diseases, such as rabies and distemper. Veterinarians are also well ad versed in medicating animals suffering from infections or illnesses, diagnose worms, performing surgery, treat and dress wounds, set fractures, provide preventive care to sustain the health of animals, and euthanize animals if necessary. Most Veterinarians instruct owners on animal feeding, behavior, and breeding as well. Veterinarians also work in with non domesticated animals as well. Frequently you will find veterinarians in zoos or wildlife preservations. Veterinarians will specialize their practice to work with animals in those locations.Having a liking for animals and a natural ability to calm them is common among Veterinarians. Some requirements to be a veterinarian is a college degree and a State license.
