About Roofing

Roof contractors are needed when homeowners believe a house needs a new roof installed or replaced. A roofer specializes in roof construction, concentrating on shingles, tar paper flat roofs, rafters, beams, and trusses. The rafters, beams, and trusses are the frame or skeleton for the roof to be built upon. For laymen, it is difficult to determine whether roofing needs to be repaired or completely replaced. Therefore, roofers are required to inspect your roof. Roofers typically examine a roofs current shingles or tar paper roof to determine the condition. They then alert the homeowner if the roof needs to be totally replaced (shingles and wood roofing), partially replaced (shingles replaced only) or if new shingles can be placed over existing shingles. A roof can be damaged by weather, erosion, or flashing problems. As with many other contractors, Roofers are required to following local laws and regulations for construction. In many areas across the United States, permits are required to install new roofs. Many roofers can and will obtain this documentation for an owner.
