Pizza refers to any establishment that makes and sells pizza. A pizza is a baked pie of Italian origin consisting of a shallow bread-like crust covered with toppings such as seasoned tomato sauce, cheese, sausage, pepperoni, etc. The first real American pizzeria, opened in New York. Depending on where you are in the US your pizza shop or pizzeria can make different styles of pizza. The most familiar types of American pizza are New York, Chicago, California, and New Haven. Many pizzerias today make dozens of styles of pizza to appeal to a wide variety of customers. Plain cheese and pepperoni are the most common types of pizza. However, many pizzas today are made with toppings such as vegetables, chicken, steak, and/or mushrooms. Modern pizza making has turned into an art. Many pizza shops also make a variety of other food items such as salads, sandwiches, soup, French fries, steaks and even pasta dinners. Several pizza shops deliver to homes and businesses for ease of the customer.
