About Physicians
The most bacis definition of a physician is a man or woman licensed to practice medicine. Physicians are distinct as a person who practices general medicine. Physicians are also referred to as a medical doctor, medical practitioner, or doctor of medicine. Physicians or Doctors use knowledge of the science of medicine, i.e. anatomy, physiology, diseases and treatment to maintian or restore human health. Physicians study, diagnose, and treat disease and injury in patients of all ages. Physicians are required to be knowledgable in many areas of medicine due to the fact that on any given day they may be required to diagnose and/or treat injuries from strained muscles, to skin disease, to the flu. Doctors can and will administer shots or vaccines for a variety of disease, including mumps, measles, etc. Physicians commonly work at a general practice or at a hospital. Some physicians or doctors can specialize in certain areas such as pediatiricians who work on children, or dermotologists who deal promirarly with skin issues.
