About Moving and Storage
The term Moving is most commonly used when discussing the transfer of belongings or furnishing from one location to another. Many people use the term when discussing the sale of a home and moving to a new home. A moving company is a company that helps people and businesses relocate their goods from one place to another. In the United States all legitimate moving companies must be licensed with the Federal Highway Administration and/or their State Commerce Commission. Along with moving companies, the moving industry also includes services of truck/trailer/moving equipment rental companies. Many rental companies also sell moving supplies for people who want to pack and move themselves. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 40 million people have moved annually over the last decade. Many moving companies also sometimes have storage facilities to hold belongings of individuals or companies. Also known as self storage, Self storage facilities lease space to individuals, usually storing household goods, or to small businesses. The rented spaces, known as "units", are usually secured by the tenant's own lock and key. A self storage operator never takes possession, care, custody or control of the contents of the storage rental space unless ther are non-payment issues. Self storage facility operators usually provide secure areas with security cameras and key-code entry gates.
