The term Florist is used to describe professionals in the floral trade. The floral trade includes flower care and handling, floral design or flower arranging, merchandising, and display and flower delivery. Consumers are familiar with retail florists who offer fresh flowers and related products such as fruit and chocolate baskets to consumers. These retail florists can be found as a local company or a national online service. Floristry refers to the cultivation and arrangement of flowers. Florists usually design arrangements according to standard designs or configure arrangements per customer request. Florists can also perform floral decoration of buildings, floral arrangements of weddings, cost and price consulting, and training others in floriculture. Standard arrangements were designed to make it easier for the customer to order. Other factors that helped this industry included internet, telephones and credit cards. These allowed direct contact between retailers and customers provided a better way to pay, thereby protecting both parties even though they did not know each other.
