About Car Rentals

Car rental or car hire agencies rent automobiles for short or long periods of time for a fee to the consumer. Car rental agencies are found primarily near airports or busy city areas to accommodate travelers to new cities who do not have transportation. Car rental companies also service individuals who have personal vehicles which are damaged, or being repaired. Many car rental companies offer insurance in case anything happens while the car is being rented. Some newer agencies offer global positioning satellite (GPS) navigation systems, entertainment systems, and even such things as mobile phones to enhance the customer experience. There are most common type of car rental companies owns their own cars (known as a fleet) and may have agreements with car manufacturers to provide all the cars for that fleet. An example of this type of company would be Hertz or Europcar. Most rental car agreements required a vehicle must be returned in a good condition and must not exceed a maximum driven distance, otherwise extra fees may be incurred. Additionally, some companies set a minimum age for the vehicle driver, which in some cases is as high as 25, even in countries where the minimum legal age to hold a driver's license is much lower. In all rental car cases a valid, current driver's license is required in order to rent a vehicle.
