About Auto Dealers
An auto dealer or car dealership is a business that sells new or used cars at the retail level. Car Dealerships have a contract with an automaker to distribute a specific make of vehicle. The car dealer employs car salespeople to actually sell the cars. Many car dealerships also provide maintenance services for cars. Many car salespeople work solely on commission, which means their pay is determined by the number of cars they sell in a given month. Most car dealers will take a trade-in of your current vehicle as down-payment or partial payment towards a new car. The dealerships providing maintenance services must then employ auto mechanics. The dealerships can also perform warranty claims, general services such as oil changes and inspections and perform work required by manufacturer recalls. Most car dealerships attempt to have a large variety of vehicles in inventory to appeal to various customer needs. Many will keep several styles, colors and options of the same vehicle allow for greater availability to potential customers.
