About Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

Air conditioning and refrigeration falls under the broad term of Heating and Air conditioning. Heating and Air conditioning is also known as HVAC. HVAC can also include the terms Air conditioning and cooling, Furnace and central heating, water heaters, boilers and radiators. HVAC specialists work in the field of climate control and are particularly important in climate control of houses, and buildings of large and small capacity. HVAC is based on the principles of of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer. The functions of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning are closely interrelated in that they seek to provide thermal comfort, acceptable indoor air quality, and reasonable installation, operation, and maintenance costs. HVAC systems can provide ventilation, reduce air infiltration, and maintain pressure relationships between spaces. There are three principal types of central air-conditioning systems: all-air, all-water, and air-processed in a central air-handling apparatus. Refrigeration air conditioning equipment reduces the humidity of the air processed by the system. Cool air is carried throughout a house in ducts and vents that are sometime insulated to retain the temperature of the air. The evaporator coil condenses water vapor from the processed air, sending the water to a drain and removing water vapor from the cooled space and lowering the relative humidity.
