Also there is the digital format on online advertising that can appear on a cell phone or a large scale digital screen on Times Square. Advertising is an audio and visual form of communication designed to convince, inform, or persuade customers to use a specific brand of product. Advertising is essential to companies that want to create a brand identity. Most advertisements are made to encourage an increase in use or consumption of the products / services involved. There is a nonprofit route in advertising as well that tends to be cheaper then corporate advertisements. They are geared to advertise a cause or problem; however they also affect their brand identity. Advertising is a very competitive industry with companies investing billions of dollars into each year.
